We are seeking a Vice President, Ambulatory Pharmacy Operations  to manage, plan, direct, monitor, and oversee day-to-day operations for ambulatory pharmacy services across the health system with accountability to the Chief Pharmacy Officer and Sr. Vice President of Pharmacy Services.

 Specific oversight includes retail and specialty pharmacies, infusion operations, clinical pharmacy services, and medication management in clinics and ambulatory surgery centers. In clinic locations where there is hospital-affiliation, the VP of Ambulatory Pharmacy Operations will provide indirect oversight with the Director of Pharmacy having primary accountability for meeting all regulatory and legal requirements.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Assists the CPO and SrVP of Pharmacy with the development and implementation of pharmacy strategic initiatives which are designed to optimize patient care and enhance cost effectiveness.
  • Participates in the in the development of the pharmacy service strategic and operating plans to ensure alignment with EHC priorities. Identifies and participates in the development of business cases to support ambulatory pharmacy growth for specialty and retail pharmacy services.
  • Informs pharmacy budget planning processes and monitors for performance in coordination with EHC Finance for ambulatory pharmacy services.
  • Participates in development and execution of monitoring metrics for the categories quality/safety , operational efficiency, clinical effectiveness, and financial performance.
  • Serves as executive advisor in prioritizing informatics and automations initiatives for the ambulatory setting.
  • Provides leadership and direction to pharmacy team members and serves as the primary point of contact with ambulatory operational leadership.
  • Oversees implementation of drug use initiatives and pharmacy care management initiatives across the ambulatory pharmacy practice setting.
  • Ensures implementation of pharmaceutical organizational policies, procedures, and related forms in the ambulatory practice setting. Ensures 340B program optimization and compliance across specialty, retail, and ambulatory clinic settings.
  • Oversees pharmacist-led clinic planning and operations.
  • Manages complex interdepartmental and interdisciplinary relationships to assure collaboration and effective/efficient operations within ambulatory pharmacy services.
  • Works collaboratively with system pharmacy leadership to ensure strategic and operational planning alignment. 


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Degree in pharmacy required.
  • Masters degree in pharmacy, health services, or business administration or related field preferred.
  • Seven years of leadership-level experience in a progressive academic medical center or similarly complex health system with a documented record of success.
  • Must have extensive ambulatory pharmacy experience in the settings of ambulatory infusion, specialty, and retail pharmacy.
  • Must have demonstrated expertise in and understanding of federal and state pharmacy statutory and regulatory provisions, including the Food and Drug Administration, U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration, Centers for Medicare and Medicaid statutes and regulations, HRSA, and the Georgia Board of Pharmacy Rules (and related compliance).
  • Extensive 340B Program knowledge is preferred.
  • Current licensure (or eligibility) as a Pharmacist in the state of Georgia.
  • BLS Certification Required.

Environmental exposures include, but are not limited to: Blood-borne pathogen exposure Bio-hazardous waste Chemicals/gases/fumes/vapors Communicable diseases. Electrical shock , Floor Surfaces, Hot/Cold Temperatures, Indoor/Outdoor conditions, Latex, Lighting, Patient care/handling injuries, Radiation , Shift work, Travel may be required. Use of personal protective equipment, including respirators, environmental conditions may vary depending on assigned work area and work tasks.
